Wow what a year for the New Orleans Saints! They played their butts off yesterday against the Colts and earned themselves the title of Superbowl Champions! In a hard fought win the Saints overcame a halftime deficit and won the game 31-17.

As I have already said the Minnesota Vikings are and always will be my team but I can’t think of a more deserving team to win the Lombardi Trophy this year besides my Vikings. In fact I actually predicted the Saints would make it to the big game back in December:

Well I don’t mean to toot my own horn but when you know what you think you know and it turns out you really do know what you know its a great feeling!

So far this has been the NFL matchup of the season and the Patriots lost the battle. New England was completely mutilated by the offensive onslaught of the Saints. The offense was clicking on all cylinders and it showed with Drew Brees throwing for five touchdowns with no interceptions.

I gotta tell you I kinda understand why Bill Belichick went for it on 4th and 2 against the Colts because the defense looked horrific yesterday. They allowed the most touchdowns in a game since Belichick took over as head coach. I really look forward to any NFL matchup that includes the Patriots but after yesterdays showing I would rather watch the red hot Bengals or a game with the new and improved Vince Young.

The Saints made the Patriots look like there record…a mediocre 7-4. This is a far cry from the 2007 team that had not lost a game the entire regular season. To tell you the truth the Patriots looked old. Randy Moss and Tom Brady are both 32, Kevin Faulk is 33, and Fred Taylor is 33. This may just be the turning point that most “dynasty” teams go through and sadly its happening to the Patriots.

Well one thing is for sure I was very impressed with the Saints play on Monday and they are one of my picks to make the Super Bowl this year. This was by far the biggest win for them this season and it not only increases their record to 11-0 it also shows everyone they can beat a team that is considered an NFL elite.

I’m not sure who will make the Super Bowl this year but I look forward to watching any NFL matchup that includes the Saints except if they play the Patriots because we all know how those games turn out…
