Okay so I was like a kid in a candy store yesterday now that the NBA season has returned. My Lakers had a very cool ring ceremony and I like the special way they gave Tex Winter his ring (he suffered a stroke in April). And to top it off the Lakers actually beat the Clippers. I think that is a perfect way for the team to start the 09-10 season don’t you!
Cavaliers vs. Celtics
In other NBA news the Cavs opened up their season at home against the Celtics with a big fat loss! To me the Cavaliers started the season the same way they ended the last one…completely dependent on Lebron James. They lost their home opener 95-89. I can guarantee they will not even reach the Eastern Conference Finals this season let alone the Championship if they continue to play this way. I mean they literally would cross half court, pass it to Lebron, and stand around and watch. Shaq, Ilgauskas, and Varejao didn’t even try and get the rebound half the time because they were too busy trying to watch Leberon. I mean I know we are all “a witness” to Lebrons’ greatness but his teammates should be over it by now. It’s time for them to rally around him or he will surely be gone this summer and witness to a new team!
Wizards vs. Mavericks
Kudos to Flip Saunders for taking his Wizards into Dallas and winning. Yes you read it right the Wizards not only won their first game of the season, but won on the road against a playoff team 102-91. The Wizards didn’t have their first road win last season until December. And what a great welcome back party for Gilbert Arenas. He finished with 29 points, 9 assists and two rebounds. Who knows how long he will play this season but it is great to see him be such a huge contribution to the team. Dallas on the other hand just plain stunk. The score is not indicative of how the team played. The were out rebounded, loss the assist’ battle and only shot 39% from the field. I won’t say too much more about this game because the Mavericks will bounce back no problem.
Trailblazers vs. Rockets
Now this game I only saw the highlights off because to be honest I wasn’t that interested in the matchup. I mean without Yao, McGrady and with Artest on the Lakers the Rockets look like a Divsion II college team. Charles Barkely said they are gonna have the worst record in the west and I have to agree. They lost to Portland in Portland 87-96. Aaron Brooks the point guard led the team in scoring with 19 points. And so far the Trevor Ariza project is not working. He started off good with 9 point in the 1st quarter and ended with only 12. He will realize how much different it is to create your own shot instead of having Kobe or Gasol make one for you. Great win at home for Portland, Bradon Roy looked great and from the highlights I saw the team looked like they gel together. They may be on of my sleeper teams in the west.
That’s it for now so check you guys later…Sports stories & latest sports news from a guys girl…
