Just a quick post about the week that was in sports. ..
Basketball
With the NBA season slowly upon us it is good to know that the referees have reached an agreement and will be returning for the regular season. If I had to see another ref call Kobe for a carrying violation I’d swear they were actually trying to call games properly.
I must say I am impressed with Blake Griffin and his play in the preseason. He averaged 14 points and almost nine rebounds. He looks like he is settling into the Clipper offense nicely and seems to play well with Baron Davis. I will go out on a limb and peg him as the 2009-2010 rookie of the year.
Oh yeah with the season starting on October 27th its time for me to pick my fantasy basketball team. Stay tuned for updates on how I do and what players I get.
Baseball
And my baseball season has officially come to a close with the Dodgers loosing to the Phillies 10-4 on Thursday. I would have liked to see a Joe Torre meets the Yankess World Series but maybe next year. Who knows if we can get Manny to stop doing steroids he can play a full season and really gel with his team. And it looks like the Dodgers are making changes already by firing the CEO of the team. Man way to “strike” while the iron is hot. Damn those Phillies, this is the second year in a row they have beat the Dodgers to advance to the big show. Oh well Dodgers see you in April…
Football
I will keep this brief as I plan on giving a complete Sunday wrap-up of all the highlights and low lights of football Sunday. But my question is which of the 4 undefeated teams will fall this weekend, the Broncos, Saints, Colts or Vikings.
Since the Vikings are my favorite team obviously I will not go against them (although we have our hands full with Pittsburgh) but I think the battle will take place in Miami. The Dolphins host the undefeated Saints in a sure to be offense explosion.
Now I agree Miami may use the wildcat offense too much but it confuses even the best of teams (they were 3 minutes away from beating the Colts in week 2). Look for there too be some confusion defensivley from the Saints. But we all know defense does not fuel the ship that is the Saints. Drew Brees has that team running on super unleaded and look for him to carry them this week like he has all season. My Prediciton: Saints 38 Dolphins 24
Thats all for now…see you Sunday for my NFL wrapup!
